I believe I have found a new author to follow. I will follow Horwood at least as far as the next book in this series. The story was quite good and the characters were very good. I was also impressed with the society that Horwood developed. I was intrigued by the Roaring Owls because he never fully identified what the creatures were. It is no spoiler when I say that I believe I finally figured out what they are because even though I'm sure I know what they are, that is not spelled out. It also took almost the entire book before I could be as sure as I am. If anyone wants to know what Roaring Owls, they will have to read the book or maybe ask Horwood himself.
